Toast, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (referred to as “Toast” in this Policy) use cookies, web beacons and other tracking technologies (collectively referred to as “cookies” in this Policy) on our websites, including https://pos.toasttab.com (referred to generally as our “Websites”) and as part of the Services  (as defined in the main body of our Privacy Statement), which may include our mobile applications.This Cookie Policy explains how our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect, use, and share personal information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with all applicable data privacy laws in the jurisdictions where we operate.  This Policy should be read together with Toast’s Privacy Statement (found here).

1. Cookies and other tracking technologies

A “cookie” is a small text file placed and saved in your browser when you access our Websites, our Services and our mobile applications. We use both session cookies (i.e., cookies that are stored only for a specific website visit) and persistent cookies (i.e., cookies that are stored beyond a specific website visit) on our Websites to provide the Services and for the purposes described in our Privacy Statement. We categorize cookies as follows: Strictly Necessary/Essential Cookies, Functional Cookies, Analytics/ Performance Cookies, and Targeting/ Marketing Cookies. For each category, we provide a detailed description of its purpose, the data it collects, and its lifespan, which you can manage via our CMP (see section below).
Strictly necessary cookies: These cookies are essential to deliver services and features you have specifically requested.  We deploy cookies and tracking technologies for core purposes such as:
  • Maintaining security and preventing fraud, 
  • System administration and infrastructure management;
  • Enabling payment processing and other fundamental Service functionalities. 
We are not required under applicable cookie or privacy laws to obtain your consent to set cookies that are strictly necessary for the provision of an information society service that you have requested.  
Non-essential cookies (you have control over the use of these cookies):
Functional cookies:  We use cookies to help us store user settings and preferences to certain functionalities on the Websites and Services, and we also use these cookies to tell us, for example, whether you have visited our Websites before or if you are a new visitor.  
Analytics and/ or Performance Cookies: These cookies help us measure and improve the performance of our Websites, Services and mobile applications. 4. Managing cookies

Consent management tool: 

We use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) that adapts to local requirements and recognizes your location to provide you with the appropriate cookie controls. Depending on where you are located, this may mean that we request your consent before setting non-essential cookies, or that we provide you with options to manage or opt out of certain categories of cookies. 

Browser controls:  

Most web browsers include settings that allow cookies to be accepted, declined, or trigger a notification when a cookie is received. These controls are usually available in the  “preferences” or “options” tab of your browser. Guidance on adjusting these settings can typically be found in the browser’s “Help” section.

Rejecting cookies may affect the functionality of our Websites, Services, or mobile applications.
If you want to opt out of receiving online interest-based advertisements on your internet browser, please visit  and follow the instructions at www.aboutads.info/choices, or http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/ to place an opt-out cookie on your device indicating that you do not want to receive interest-based advertisements.  Opt-out cookies only work on the specific internet browser and device that they are downloaded onto. If you delete cookies on your device generally, you will need to set the opt-out cookie again on that device. Please note that when you opt out of receiving interest-based advertisements, this does not mean you will no longer see advertisements from us or on our online services.  It means that the online ads that you do see should not be tailored to your interests.  We are not responsible for the effectiveness of, or compliance with, any third-parties’ opt-out options or programs or the accuracy of their statements regarding their programs. In addition, third parties may still use cookies to collect information about your use of our online services, including for analytics and fraud prevention purposes. Please be aware that depending on the particular cookie, restricting cookies may prevent you from accessing and using all or part of our Websites, Services or mobile applications.

Targeted advertising and your choices:  

In certain cases, we allow third-party advertising partners to use cookies, web beacons and other tracking technologies on our Websites, mobile applications and within our Services to collect information about you and your activities for interest-based advertising or other targeted content.  The information they collect may be associated with your personal information or they may collect information, including personal information, about your online activities over time and across different websites and other online services. This information may be shared with ad networks and other content providers. 

Mobile advertising:  

You can opt out of having your mobile advertising identifiers used for certain types of targeted or personalized advertising by accessing the settings on your mobile device. 

Do Not Track: 

We may use, and we may allow third-party service providers and other third parties to use, cookies or other technologies on our Services that collect information about your browsing activities over time and across different websites following your use of the Services. Do Not Track (“DNT”) is an optional browser setting that allows you to express your preferences regarding tracking across websites. We currently do not respond to DNT signals. We may continue to collect information in the manner described in this Privacy Statement from web browsers that have enabled DNT signals or similar mechanisms.

Our Websites contain links to other third-party websites.  These websites are not operated or maintained by Toast.  If you follow a link to any of these websites please note that Toast does not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of such third parties websites, and is not responsible for cookie management on third-party websites.
